Server software
The usual choice: vanilla gameplay, better performance, and Bukkit/Spigot plugins. Players need nothing extra.
The official server exactly as Mojang ships it. No plugins, no mods.
Lightweight modding. Performance mods like Lithium run server-side; content mods usually need players to install them too.
Large modpacks. Players must run the same modpack. Heavier on CPU and memory; pick 8 GB or more.
We install and start every option on our own panel before opening orders for it. Still to check: Paper, Vanilla, Fabric, NeoForge / Forge.
Sizing
Memory on the plan is the container limit, and roughly a quarter of it is reserved for Java and the operating system. Player counts below assume default view distance and a light plugin set; modpacks, high view distances, and big redstone farms can halve them.
Minecraft is mostly single-threaded, so a fast core matters more than many cores. Each plan gets a CPU quota on the shared Ryzen 9 9900X, stated on the plan table as "up to N threads' worth". It is a ceiling, not a reservation.
| Plan | Players (estimate) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 4 GB | 4 to 10 | A few friends on a vanilla or lightly modded world. |
| 6 GB | 8 to 16 | Small survival communities and plugin servers. |
| 8 GB | 10 to 24 | Established communities, light modpacks, or larger builds. |
| 12 GB | 12 to 30 | Modpacks with many mods, or communities with lots of loaded chunks. |
| 16 GB | 16 to 40 | Heavy modpacks and the largest communities we can host on one machine. |
Location and latency
It suits players in the eastern and central United States, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Players in Europe or Asia will see higher ping; for them, a host closer to home is honestly the better choice. Test before you buy with the latency check on the support page.
Backups and files
Backup slots you control, full file access in the browser and over SFTP, and the ability to download everything at any time. Backups are stored on this same machine, so keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. We hold your files for 7 days after a cancellation ends.
Support boundaries
For things outside that scope, the community around each project (Paper, Fabric, and modpack authors) is the right place, and our guides point you there.

Any Java Edition version the server software supports. Minecraft moved to year-based version numbers in 2026, so the current release line is 26.x; older worlds on 1.20 and 1.21 run too. Versions from 26.1 onward need Java 25 and 1.20 to 1.21.x need Java 21. The panel picks the matching Java image when you choose a version.
Yes, with NeoForge, Forge, or Fabric. Upload the pack's server files through the panel's file manager and point your startup at them, then have players run the same pack; our modpack guide walks through it. Modpacks are heavier than plugin servers, so start at 8 GB or more and read the pack's own memory guidance.
Servers share the machine's IP address and each gets its own port. Players connect with address:port. If you want a plain address without a port, point an SRV record from your own domain at the server; our guides show how.
From your account, in a couple of clicks. The change applies to the same server, so your world, plugins, and address stay as they are and nothing needs to be moved. Moving up is immediate and prorated; moving down takes effect at your next renewal and can be undone until then. We never delete anything to make a smaller plan fit.
